The cutting of the matrices allows to create an aperiodic monoplate tiling that can fill the space, in the manner of certain Escher engravings. The two copper plates present almost the same mirrored pattern, with tree structures obtained with sugar and aquatint. I chose to illustrate the symmetry by superimposing the prints of the two plates. The overall shape also evokes a kimono laid flat or an origami.

La découpe des matrices permet de réaliser un pavage monoplaque apériodique qui peut remplir l’espace, à la manière de certaines gravures d’Escher. Les deux plaques de cuivres présentent quasiment le même motif en miroir, avec des structures arborescentes obtenues au sucre et à l’aquatinte. J’ai choisi d’illustrer la symétrie en superposant les impressions des deux planches. La forme globale évoque aussi un kimono posé à plat ou un origami.
